Melasma Treatment & Laser

Melasma is a chronic skin condition that results in symmetrical brown pigmentation on the face. Melasma is significantly more common in women compared to men, And is more common in people that have naturally tan/brown skin compared to those with fair or very dark skin.

The exact cause of melasma is still unknown and is considered complex. There is a genetic predisposition to the disease as well as many known triggers. The most important factor in melasma is sun exposure. Other triggers include pregnancy, hormonal treatments such as contraceptive pills, implants or hormonal IUD, as well as hormone replacement treatments.
